An overview by Robert Lewis The year 2004 marks the 90th anniversary of the onset of the First World War. Australias support of Great Britain as the Mother Country meant that this country was also at war. The information that follows examines the impact this conflict had on the fledgling Australian nation.

World War One. It was one of the first ever major amphibious operations in modern warfare and used aircraft (as well as an aircraft carrier), aerial reconnaissance, landing craft, radio communications, artificial harbours and submarines. Its lessons were far reaching, and were remembered long after the event in such campaigns as the Normandy Landings in 1944 and the Falklands Conflict of 1982.

Thursday 25 April 2013 ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity.

This source is extremely useful. It helped me to understand the spirit of the ANZAC and the qualities of both the Spirit and the Legend.
