    Confucianism means "The School of the Scholars"; or, less accurately, "The Religion of Confucius") is an East Asian ethical and philosophical system originally developed from the teachings of the early Chinese sage Confucius. It is a complex system of moral, social, political and religious which had tremendous influence on the history of Chinese civilization down to the 20th century.

    Confucius (551-479BC), or Kong Zi, was a thinker, political figure, educator, and founder of the Ru School (Confucian) of Chinese thought. His teachings, preserved in the Analects , form the foundation of much of subsequent Chinese speculation on education. Confucius' surname is Kong, his given name Qiu, and his social name Zhongni. This was a good website because it helped me understand who confucius was and it gave me some information on his achievements and Confucianism.

His teachings, preserved in the Analects , form the foundation of much of subsequent Chinese speculation on education. Confucius' surname is Kong, his given name Qiu, and his social name Zhongni.

    Legalism was a philosophy of administration in ancient China. Upon first acquaintance with this system it seems no more than a rationalization by political administrators for their having total political control of their societies.     This helped me a little, thanks The purpose of Confucianism would be uphold people's morals socially, politically and philosophically. Confucianism stresses filial piety (respecting ancestors), education (civil service exams) as well as relationships (towards elders, friends, siblings etc).
