When Maruti Suzuki phased out Versa it was in need of an MPV which can take up the role. The company developed the Eeco with a much refined powertrain and designed it to be versatile so that the MPV could cope up to the needs of consumers.

After investing about Rs. 400 crore in the development of a new MPV, which is based on Swift platform, Maruti Suzuki was successful in bringing out the Ertiga. Designers at Maruti Suzuki and Suzuki Motor Corp Japan worked on this project which focused on consumers in India and in other developing markets like Indonesia.

The Omni is an iconic product from the Maruti Suzuki line-up which has been in the country for nearly 30 years now, purely because of its utilitarian nature and flexibility. There have been many products launched in the segment since last few years, but the company has not phased out this old gem because of its continuing popularity.

It has become the car to buy blindly for a lot of people. But since it has now been around for quite a while, Toyota has made a lot of changes and given the car new bits and bobs to rekindle its appeal to the masses.
