    It certainly does seem to be a sort of buzz word. A lot of app developers are saying "me too" and are throwing in location based services just for the heck of it. What we aim to do is to make location based information relevant and meaningful, and to organize and filter it in a way that makes it useful, and not overwhelming.

      Not to a degree that would be of any use. In actuality, the main limiting factor you have is the amount of RAM in devices. The bandwidth just determines how quickly you can fill that RAM with useful data. 512kbps could be enough for providing general information, but would be too slow to provide detailed information in a timely manner. I guess it really depends on what format the data is being delivered (XML seems most likely), and any compression algorithms being used.

They also look at smartphone wi-fi usage and consumer's next purchases. These findings suggest that smartphones are experiencing rapidly increasing popularity. Before too long, everyone will be carrying a smartphone.
