This article analyzes nielson data (linked to in the article) that predicts smartphones to dominate feature phones (phones with a few extra bells and whistles) by 2011. They also look at smartphone wi-fi usage and consumer's next purchases. These findings suggest that smartphones are experiencing rapidly increasing popularity. Before too long, everyone will be carrying a smartphone.

This just goes to show how important mobility and a city-wide public network are going to be. If Indy acts now, they would be in a prime position to take advantage of this trend.

The advertising is a bit over the top but it does show how augemented reality can be used in our daily lives.

Sure, it's several years away from practical application, but it would certainly make augmented reality a part of our daily lives.

It certainly does seem to be a sort of buzz word. A lot of app developers are saying "me too" and are throwing in location based services just for the heck of it. What we aim to do is to make location based information relevant and meaningful, and to organize and filter it in a way that makes it useful, and not overwhelming.
