ionela on 25 Apr 09The DCP versus the DAC. One of the major differences is EEPROM memory. Most DACs do not contain EEPROM memory. This is an advantage of the DCP so that the setting can be stored, just as explained with the mechanical potentiometer. This allows for a lot more flexibility with the system since you can eliminate the need for a microcontroller, and just use the digital potentiometer in some cases.
