Technology Integration Matrix - 1 views

  •
The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) illustrates how teachers can use technology to enhance learning for K-12 students. The TIM incorporates five interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments: active, constructive, goal directed (i.e., reflective), authentic, and collaborative (Jonassen, Howland, Moore, & Marra, 2003). The TIM associates five levels of technology integration (i.e., entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation) with each of the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments. Together, the five levels of technology integration and the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments create a matrix of 25 cells as illustrated below.

BestWebQuests.com springs from the fact that people have been creating "WebQuests" since 1995. Somehow this term has become a buzzword in the world of education. Couple "buzzword" with "time" (as measured in Web years) and you've got an exponential number of WebQuests. Or do you? Many educators have expressed frustration that some "WebQuests"... aren't. Because time is always in short supply, teachers wanted a place to go where they could know for certain that the WebQuests listed, not only involve some higher order thinking, but require students to "transform" what they have learned.
