If a picture is worth a thousand words, a good animation is worth ten thousand. After reading book after book about the Pacific War and finding only complicated maps with dotted lines and dashed lines crisscrossing the pages, we decided to depict the key naval and land battles using animation technology.

Storybird is a service that uses collaborative storytelling to connect kids and families. Two (or more) people create a Storybird in a round robin fashion by writing their own text and inserting pictures. They then have the option of sharing their Storybird privately or publicly on the network. Despite the provocative headline, did you get the feeling that they were telling you what you already know about quality schools? And unless I just read right past it, I don't think the researcher interviewed parents as part of what leads to academic success, which I thought was interesting since he seems to have researched just about every other group. Thanks for posting--I always enjoy reading stuff like this!

I agree with you Holly. Once again, it's hard to quantify exactly what happens in education. The major issue always has been that public never gets to the heart of the research and basis their opinions on fancy titles and pretty pictures/graphs.
