Common Core has released a new, Second Edition of the K-12 Curriculum Maps in English Language Arts. The Maps are designed to help educators meet the expectations of the Common Core State Standards, which call for the standards to be "complemented by a well-developed, content-rich curriculum."

Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt has several school districts in California piloting the first-ever full-curriculum algebra app for the Apple iPad.

MathMovesU is an interactive virtual world where middle school students can interact with algebra, geometry, decimals, fractions, and word problems through topics they are passionate about like sports, music, and fashion.  As students navigate through MathMovesU they will encounter math problems delivered through games, polls, and fun facts.  The site is a great supplement to curriculum and will help students practice and improve their math skills in a fun, engaging manner.

The Virtual Courseware Project produces interactive, online simulations for the life science laboratory or for earth science field studies. The activities are designed to enhance an existing curriculum and include online assessments. They can be used by students ranging from middle school, high school, or college classrooms.

Wow--interesting perspective on standards, particularly common core. I'd like to see someone take on the author's logic in an article. I agree with many of the author's points, but wonder what someone who has the opposite viewpoint might say to the idea that standards encourage minimum proficiency, therefore minimum effort.
