Science in Action originated as one of the first television programs on science in the 1950s. The programs were produced at the California Academy of Sciences. Now Science in Action encompasses a Web site and podcasts to increase public interest in and understanding of contemporary and everyday science issues leading to greater scientific awareness and literacy.

Make a Link Between Imagination and Possibility Based on an imaginary trip into space, Kids to Space: A Space Traveler's Guide is a comprehensive collection of children's questions about traveling to and living in space. Students aged 3-19 were asked to participate in planning for humankind's future in space. Internationally recognized experts, including astronauts, educators, astronomers, doctors, engineers, scientists and architects, provide the answers. A storyline weaves through the chapters, introducing space topics in simple terms.

Plus: A comprehensive Educator's Guide has 94 mission plans (lesson plans) corresponding to the 94 chapters in A Space Traveler's Guide. Aligned with National Education Standards for Art, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Technology, many of the plans introduce students to new concepts through hands-on activities.
