House Divided Interns. Professors Pinsker and Osborne are seeking paid summer interns for the House Divided Project (http://housedivided.dickinson.edu). The project concerns Dickinson College and American history in the mid-nineteenth century, but focuses primarily on the use of new digital technologies to present these stories, so that all undergraduates, especially those with advanced technical skills and aptitude, should feel encouraged to apply. Student interns will assist with identifying, digitizing and entering various types of historical materials into an online content management system called Drupal. They will also work with historical maps and images and may be introduced to assignments involving GIS, Google Earth or Adobe Photoshop. Anyone with experience in American history course work or familiarity with these software programs should highlight that fact in their resume or in their cover email. Dana interns on this project receive about $300 per week in stipend for eight weeks in June and July and some interns will also receive on-campus housing. Those interested should send a resume to pinskerm@dickinson.edu by Friday, April 3, 2008. Please indicate in your cover email whether or not you are seeking free on-campus housing as part of the internship.
