This site at the University of Virginia has links to a number of physical examination videos. These are Quicktime files so you will need the Quuicktime player to run them. These can be used in education under the Creative Commons Licence. University of Virginia have had these resources peer reviewed by MedEd Portal.

Surgical tutor offers some on-line clinical tutorials. Each of these tutorials is based on a clinical photograph, x-ray or pathological specimen and includes questions, answers, a short literature review and suggested further reading. The answers to each question can be viewed by hovering the mouse over the answer icon. This resource was peer reviewed and added to Omni - which is now Intute.

An interactive resource that introduces all the essential elements of human tissue: after reading a short text, visitors working singly or together to identify the photographs. Students are asked to identify structures on the slides and can then click the answers to check if they are right. This resoucre was developed by Dr Edward Friedlander of Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and is amde available under creative commons.

"In conclusion, a relatively small percentage of students use multimedia (audio and video) that are provided as a duplication of lectures in the basic sciences. The distribution of frequency of access of both video and audio files was consistent across the various courses offered in the first two years of medical school. There were significant correlations in the frequencies with which individual students viewed videos of lectures from course-to-course. Finally, there was a trend for an inverse association between the frequencies with which students viewed lectures and the grades they received in the course. This is an important observation that requires further investigation since it may be indicative of a maladaptive learning strategy for some students.
