This article provides insight into using SMART goals within the classroom. This includes an explanation of how SMART goals have been used throughout history although they may not have been referred to the name we currently use. Additionally, each letter of SMART is explained so that reader has an understanding of how each letter is reflected within an individual's goal. Along with providing information about SMART goals, the author provides the reader with templates and rubrics to use with students so that goals can be set following the standards set using SMART.
