Greenhorn homeowner needs guidance on products & installation in new construction home. I currently have fiber from my ISP and a Gigaspire U6 gateway. I am looking for a simple network to provide coverage for a 3 level 3000 sq/ft home and an outbuilding approximately 175' away that is an apartment above a garage, 900sq/ft. My limited knowledge has my mind saying, ISP to the gateway>16 port unmanaged switch w/some poe ports>2 WAPS(placement unknown) & 1 Long range WAP or p2p bridge to the outbuilding home Networking services?? I am to the point now to run cat6 cable throughout the home to multiple rooms for hardwired connections to help future proof the home. I have ZERO experience in this field and need some reassurance & help. Thanks in advance!

Setting up a network in a new construction home can be a daunting task, but with some guidance, you can achieve a reliable and efficient network setup. Here's a suggested approach:

    Internet Service Provider (ISP):

Ensure that your fiber connection from the ISP is properly installed and functioning.
    Gateway:

Connect your ISP's fiber connection to your Gigaspire U6 gateway as the main entry point for your network.
    Network Infrastructure:

Install a 16-port unmanaged switch (some with PoE ports) to expand your network connectivity options. This switch will provide wired connections to various rooms in your home.
    Wireless Access Points (WAPs):

Place two WAPs strategically on different levels of your 3-level home to provide optimal wireless coverage. Ensure they are connected to the switch.
For the outbuilding, consider using a long-range WAP or a point-to-point (p2p) bridge solution to extend the network's reach. Place it in a location with a clear line of sight to the outbuilding.
    Wired Connections:

Running Cat6 cables throughout the home is an excellent idea for future-proofing and providing reliable wired connections.
Determine the desired locations for hardwired connections, such as living rooms, home offices, and entertainment areas. Plan the cable routing accordingly.
    Home Networking Services:

Consider implementing network security measures, such as setting up a firewall, enabling network encryption, and configuring guest networks if needed.
Explore network management options like Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritize certain types of traffic or devices.
Research home automation and smart home integration options, if desired.
It's essential to consult with professionals or experienced network installers for guidance specific to your home's layout and requirements. They can help assess your needs waterproof deck Utah, perform a site survey, and suggest the best equipment placement and cable routing for optimal performance.

Remember, seeking professional assistance will ensure that your network setup is efficient, secure, and tailored to your specific needs.
