allows teachers to perform routine tasks like recording attendance and grades. Schoology also provides a platform for giving tests and other assignments online. The social networking aspect of Schoology lies in the interface for posting messages to a large community (whole school), to a smaller community (an individual class), or to individual students. The Schoology interface will look very familiar to anyone that has used Facebook.

An initiative to build local communities of support that will foster ongoing collaborations among volunteers, students and educators. Volunteers, university students, scientists, engineers, other STEM professionals and, more broadly, members of the community are working together with educators and students to bring discovery-based science experiences to students in grades K-12. When an educator posts a project, our system will help them get the resources needed to bring that project to fruition.

a set of 54 non-fiction stories from Scholastic for K-2 students. The stories are feature pictures and short passages of text that students can read on their own or have read to them by each story's narrator. The collection of stories is divided into eight categories: social studies, science, plants and flowers, environmental stories, civics and government, animals, American history, and community.

An online library of free videos for learners everywhere - our goal is to gather a set of resources to help you learn just about anything, meet people who make a difference in their communities, and even discover new parts of the world. Next Vista for Learning wants to post your educational videos online, too. Everyone has an insight to share and yours may be just what some student or teacher somewhere needs!

taking kid artwork into the 21st century, creating an online art gallery / community where students, teachers and parents gather, admire student creations, share supportive comments, start a fan club Billed as, "the largest student art museum in the world," Artsonia is a free place to display students' work. The right side of any given page (see the second link, below), is pretty ad-heavy, but it still looks like a good site for creativity and inspiration to me.

a free service that hosts learning communities. Nuvvo members can join existing learning groups and or create their own learning groups. In each group members can share lessons, ask questions, and have discussions. Group members can post videos, slideshows, and other media to support their lessons. Some of the groups that might be of particular interest to educators are the Project Based Learning group, the Cooperative Learning group, and the Education 2.0 group. Applications for Education Like any social group, Nuvvo's value lies in its members' activities. Nuvvo provides a good place for teachers to share lessons and exchange ideas. Exchanging ideas and lessons with other teachers is a great way to get a new perspective on a teaching strategy or a lesson you're trying to teach.

Also sent a collection of projects being done by different schools; some use Google Earth; others use Google Maps. The site has had over 15,000 visitors. You might want to use it. Schools are from several different states and different countries. Some of the topics include explorers, history of students' local communities (very popular), heroes and courageous people. Some of the GCT's have submitted projects to this site.

The social curation community - Organize, discover and share the stuff you like. Very similar to Scoop.It in the actual activity, but quite different in the way that they are visualized. More like interconnected spokes showing links between different curated topics. Worth a visit
