This article is about how the scarce resource of water is affecting Iraq's stumbling economy. Although a "seawater injection" project has been designed to help Iraq's economy, the lack of resources is what is holding them back. There is also a lack of materials (industry sources) being used to extract the water from the fields; pipes, pumps and new kits to separate larger quantities of water are also scarce. Overall, this article shows that Iraq must deal with what materials or resources are vital to benefit themselves. Scarcity of water and labor sources are affecting a boost in their oil production.

IN 1968 an American ecologist, Garrett Hardin, published an article entitled "The Tragedy of the Commons". The article discusses how water is not recycled. I thought it applied because water is a Free Good but by being discarded in this way we are paying for it to be processed then discarded. I also thought it captured the first thing I learned of how scarce resources are/should be allocated
This is an article from 2001, however the material is regarding petroleum prices which I find increasingly relevant, since this finite resource is used everyday and gas prices in the US have recently in this month started to decrease. This begging the question, why? Could it be that we might see a price control on the fluctuating prices of gas regardless of the fact that the supply is low and demand is high?
Furman says that just because the US is growing its economy doesn't mean the rest of the world can slack off and rely on them, the US is not going to be able to save the rest of the world's economy. Other countries need to boost consumption and they have the resources to do so.
