This is a really good site that I found while reading "When Kids Can't read" by Kylene Beers. It has good author biographies as well as books for teens, obviously. Click on the 'links' tab and there are some other really neat things. the address is really authors4teens.com, the books4teens goes to a different page. Sorry.

This site provides the tools for you to build up an argument or description of an event, person or historical period by placing items in a virtual box. What items, for example, would you put in a box to describe your life; the life of a Victorian Servant or Roman soldier; or to show that slavery was wrong and unnecessary? You can display anything from a text file to a movie.

As our English 10 class picked up their Kite Runner books for the first time this semester, I mentioned that we had a "friend in Afghanistan" who was eagerly awaiting their questions and comments. About five hands went up immediately. "Who is it?" "How do you know him?" And of course, "Why does he care about our class?"
