  A quick history of the audio book
  
  In 1920 the Royal National Institute for the Blind in England was allready doing research on how best to develop mp3 audiobooks for the blind. During those times there have been a lot of ex World War 1 soldiers who'd gone blind as a result of the fighting. In 1926 the RNIB started to use LPs to record audio books that could be played on record players (the kind with the big horn, you'd to swing a handel a few times befor it would play).
  
  In 1936 the Talking Book Service was launched.The first two books were:The murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie and Joseph Conrads Thyphoon. The records used during the time can keep 25 minutes of spoken tekst, so they really needed about 10 records for a typical audio book.
  
  In 1940 the studio used by the RNIB was bombed, and a month later an alternative studio was bombed as wel.The RNIB wanted to start writing audiobooks again, nevertheless they needed certain resources which had been destroyed.
  
  In The Usa, the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB), had started producing audiobooks as wel, and they did send their English counterparts to be helped by the much needed parts. Unfortunately the cargo got lost during a bombing raid of the London harbor! An additional delivery but did ensure it is, and the RNIB was able to begin again with the production of audio books. top fiction books
  
  In the sixties the audio books started to appear on casettes, and later, following the infention of the compact disk player, on CDs. young adult fiction books
  
  In these times the audio books have grown to be more are common then ever befor, regardless of their age.
