One way to support wide reading developing readers is to pursue their interests. Search "videos with onscreen lyrics" and add the singer, music type, title, etc. This broad search of just "videos with onscreen lyrics yielded 150 million results--that's a lot of motivating text for a lot of readers.
Couple dozen digital storybooks online in three age categories: young children, older children, and young adults. Texts and illustrations. No built-in read-aloud option, but can't beat the price.
Free online library with a dual purpose. Every time a book is read here, Pearson Foundation donates a book to charity causes identified at the site. Books can be searched by age range (0-3, 4-7, & 8-10), author, or genre. Books are presented as Flash files, so most screenreaders will not work with it. Snap & Read by Don Johnston will.

Tens of 1000's of digital books that can be read online with or without speech support or downloaded for use offline. Each book can be accessed using multiple interfaces, including touch screens, the IntelliKeys with custom overlays, and 1 to 3 switches. Parents and professionals may write their own books as well, a great way to create materials targeted to the specific interests of a child or student.
