"Learning analytics (LA) is the collection and analysis of data associated with student learning. The analysis of this data, coming from a variety of sources like the LMS, the library, and the student information system, helps us observe and understand learning behaviors in order to enable appropriate interventions. The reports that an LA application generates can be helpful for instructors (regarding student activities and progress), for students (regarding their progress), and for administrators (regarding course and degree completion data). LA applications help instructors monitor student progress, students evaluate their own performance, and administrators track course and degree completion. Although still emergent, learning analytics is a rapidly expanding area of research and a practice worthy of exploration."

For 33 years, Lilly Conferences on College and University Teaching and Learning have provided opportunities for the presentation of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.  This interdisciplinary teaching conference targets faculty and administrators.  Participants come from across the United States and abroad; participants represent many disciplines and represent various stages in academic careers ranging from post-doctoral positions, adjunct faculty, new faculty, mid-career faculty, seasoned faculty, and even emeritus faculty and administrators. The conference is centered on the theme "Evidence-Based Teaching and Learning".   Conference sub-themes involve tracks the following tracks:

Forum for chairs to examine the art of departmental administrating through close interaction with colleagues from multiple desciplines and from institutions around the country

This year's conference theme is Leverage. This theme invites us to explore the various roles that we play as faculty developers, administrators, teachers, and students, and the ways in which we capitalize on the assets around us to meet the many needs of the higher education community, ideally doing more and better work with less effort. We hope this theme and conference will build on Kathryn Plank's 2013 Presidential Address, during which we all contemplated who we are and our relationship to the meaningful work that we do. In that spirit, how do we leverage who we are to better accomplish all that we are asked to do, and why do we persevere?

The Institute on Project-Based Learning is a 2.5 day intensive workshop where teams of five or more faculty and administrators from colleges and universities will gain knowledge about project-based learning and make tangible progress to integrate those concepts into their own curricula. The Institute is hosted and run by WPI in partnership with the Association of American Colleges & Universities, the leading national association focused on undergraduate liberal education.

The Canadian Network for Innovation in Education (CNIE) is a national organization of professionals committed to excellence in the provision of innovation in education in Canada.CNIE connects educators, administrators and practitioners in a bilingual, pan Canadian network. This high intensity two day event focuses on deploying, integrating and using Google Apps for Education to promote student learning in K-12 and higher education. The program features Google Certified Teachers, Google Apps for Education Certified Trainers, practicing administrators, solution providers, Google engineers, and representatives from the Google Apps for Education team. 

The NW eLearning Conference provides a forum for faculty, staff and administrators to share and discuss strategies and issues related to all aspects of eLearning, including web-enhanced and hybrid instruction.   It's not just for online! 

Faculty, staff, and administrators throughout higher education are employing contemplative practices for many reasons. These include sharpening attention; creating environments that enhance the well-being of all; addressing inclusion and access for all in support of the vibrant diversity of our institutions; deepening engagement and learning of subject matter; reflecting on and supporting meaning-making; considering the wider impacts of our actions; and ultimately supporting the development of a more just and compassionate society. Given the breadth and depth of these many intentions, the types of practices used are extremely diverse, and their assessment needs to be approached with great sensitivity. Assessment of practices designed to develop attention, for example, will be different from assessment of those practices designed to increase conceptual understanding or develop compassion and creativity.

The 32nd edition of the conference list covers selected events that primarily focus on the use of technology in educational settings and on teaching, learning, and educational administration. Only listings until June 2015 are complete as dates, locations, or Internet addresses (URLs) were not available for a number of events held from July 2015 onward. In order to protect the privacy of individuals, only URLs are used in the listing as this enables readers of the list to obtain event information without submitting their e-mail addresses to anyone. A significant challenge during the assembly of this list is incomplete or conflicting information on websites and the lack of a link between conference websites from one year to the next.  

MacEwan University, the Students' Association of MacEwan University and the University of Alberta are teaming up to host a symposium on academic integrity on October 17-18, 2014 for instructors, students, and administrators.Topics discussed at the symposium will include teaching for academic integrity, use of "plagiarism detection" software, and brainstorming sessions on how all members of an academic community can contribute to a culture of academic integrity.James M.
