English teacher Joy White said the online platform is also useful when students miss class. "I have a student who broke his leg," she said. "Now he can easily keep up with what he missed, still participate in online discussions, reach me easily to ask questions and make sure he stays on track." Most of the teachers' TISD email accounts are connected to their phones so they can answer questions about homework in the evening, officials said. "That way, students have their questions answered before they come to class," Director of Communications Matthew LeBlanc said.  "They have any confusion about a subject cleared up ahead of time so they are ready to learn during actual class time," he said.
