"The "Rare Book Room" site has been constructed as an educational site intended to allow the visitor to examine and read some of the great books of the world. Over the last decade, a company called "Octavo" digitally photographed some of the world 's great books from some of the greatest libraries. These books were photographed at very high resolution (in some cases at over 200 megabytes per page). This site contains all of the books ( 558) that have been digitized to date. These range over a wide variety of topics and rarity. The books are presented so that the viewer can examine all the pages in medium to medium-high resolution. Harnessing the power of multi media in the form of videos found on YouTube to bring the last 85 years to life. "If a picture is worth a thousand words then a modern history site providing 900 links to videos related to events and popular culture from the 20's, 30's, 40's through to the 90's must be worth millions of words". The site is split into decades and with each year with a dedicated page, there are also sections for Motoring, Homes, Computers, Clothes and Fashion and Music .

Campus Bird is a free site designed to help students locate a college that fits their needs and wants. The site offers all of the usual selection criterion like major, location, campus size that you find on most college search sites. The differentiating aspect of Campus Bird is that they have embedded a Google Maps view of all of the colleges in their index. Once you have selected your search criteria you can quickly view the location of each college and explore the surrounding area. In some cases you will be taken to a virtual tour of a college's campus. Campus Bird says that it is working on adding more virtual tours to their database.

"This project is both very large and fairly old in Internet terms. At the time it was instigated (1996), it was not clear that web sites [and the documents made available there] would often turn out to be transient. As a result there is a process called "link rot" - which means that a "broken link" is a result of someone having taken down a web page.
