    benefits of online book clubs: get along with participants as you don't have to hear about their lives, can go online to discussion at anytime, be exposed to books you would not read ordinarily, and no small talk about kids, jobs, kitchen remodels, etc. Something for us to think about!

    "MzTEK is a non-profit organisation with the aim of addressing the imbalance of women artists working in the fields of new media, computer arts, and technology." My London cousin knows these women and says they are really dynamic and terrific. Although their offerings are f2f, they do have online communities. I like the statement that they are aiming to correct an imbalance, which we may be able to use.

    Although from 2006, this is an interesting take on preparing students to really engage in online discussion. The faculty, Edward J. Gallagher, creates scaffolds for student engagement principles and practice, has students read the course constitution, and structures the course around the discussion vs. content.
