Assessment of Individual and Group Use of Problems Solving Strategies Using Online Disc... - 1 views

After our webinar on using onine forums in edcucation, I found this article really interesting. It uses "interactive online problem-based learning" to help students learn problem solving skills. The really amazing thing was that they were able to analyze individual student responses to determine what type of problem solver each student was and then provide extra help for students where they needed it! Great using of online learning!

Just in response to Larry's presentation some weeks ago, this is the full text of the speech he was talking about. The whole speech, which Wallace gave to a graduating class at Kenyon College in 2005, is about engagement, and reconsidering how we engage with the world. I think Larry's use of the This Is Water anecdote is really interesting in relation to the changing role of technology. I did my PhD thesis on Wallace's work, and he had a really interesting relationship with technology and engagement. Just thought I'd post the speech for people's reference - more inspiration/aspiration than practical application, perhaps!

I've had a few students coming to my office hours recently who have found this on their own and wanted to know if I thought it was a good resource. I must look into it a bit more, but it's great to see that students are finding the same things we are!

I mentioned it in my physics lectures so maybe some in my class have recommended it to some in yours. Peer learning.....the system works!

These are really good - I just did some of the logical exercises. Great resource for students to practise what can be deduced logically from the various implications etc. Thanks for sharing these Robert.
