Learn about a new country and learn to speak the language. Full profiles provide an instant guide to history, politics and economic background of countries and territories, and background on key institutions. They also include audio and video clips from BBC archives. Select a country, territory or international organisation from the many languages on the website.

Currently, fifteen languages are available: 12 Indo-European and 3 non-Indo-European. There are also two comparative tutorials for those who want to learn two languages simultaneously. Recently, I've begun a project to convert the Foreign Service Institute language programs to HTML format. Lists of vocabulary and verb conjugations are available for some Romance and Germanic languages, as well as other helpful ideas, resources and links for learning foreign languages. Some of the tutorials also include audio resources and online exercises, indicated by the headphones and notebooks below.

This site intends to provide useful tools for people who wish to learn Japanese online for free. First, there is the interesting Fujisan Kana Quiz testing tool. Learn how to write the hiragana here. If you masterd it, take a shot at the Kanji glyphs, using our flashcards. You can also play the fun memory game with a variety of difficulties.
