  • Paranoia does interesting things to us. When you know that someone is working against you, you begin to leap at shadows. Small actions are interpreted through whatever lens you choose. And of course that lens is a complex mix of previous experience, in-game actions, and gut feeling.
  • It’s not about how well the game works mechanically, although it certainly does work well. It’s about how I get to spar with the other people around the table, sometimes without knowing it. It’s about reading my friends and creating stories that you can share later on.
  • It’s more than just a reproduction of the setting, it’s a meditation on the themes of betrayal, politics, and ulterior motives that drives the original work.

    This is an outstanding review that emphases the influence of paranoia and the pleasure of gaming with a close circle of friends. The reviewer touches upon the mechanics, but the mechanics are peripheral to the game's purpose: to create an environment that resembles a live action role-play of the television program's outstanding story lines, characters, and atmosphere. Loyalty cards determine who is a Human, and who is a Cylon. The Humans must ferret out the traitors as the Cyclons do their best to undermine the Humans without revealing their identities. It is good to remember that this IS a game of paranoia. Therefore, people who are unable to conceal their motives may not enjoy this game; however, those who thrive in social environments will likely learn to love the challenge.

    A classic of a game, challenging, frustrating, and funl; Monopoly is useful in teaching economics to children.
