      Nihar, overall good content. A few suggestions - a) Presentation could have been brief (max 5-6 slides) b) Look & Feel could be professional. (check out 24point0.com) On Gandhi, another recommended reading "The Shadow of the Great Game: The Untold Story of India's Partition" which captures how Jinnah, British, Congress and Gandhi's followers felt about Gandhi's leadership.       Your views! Having worked at GMR and interacted closely with the family, I tend to agree with Daniel Goleman.
  • Why does social intelligence emerge as the make-or-break leadership skill set? For one, leadership is the art of accomplishing goals through other people.
  • As I've written with my colleague Richard Boyatzis, technical skills and self-mastery alone allow you to be an outstanding individual contributor. But to lead, you need an additional interpersonal skill set: you've got to listen, communicate, persuade, collaborate.

      I agree social media can be THREAT... NO doubt.. But it is equally true that social media can BOOST the productivity and help the world too. It depends on how humans use it.. This is nothing peculiar to to social media alone. This is normal to everything in the world including the very existance of HUMANS in this world.. dr mandi

      Gartner's 6P framework neatly sums up corporate leadership and its orientation towards Social Media. Most of the Indian organisations are stil grappling with the first 3F's - folly, fear and flippant.

  • There is no better example of what it really takes to be a Transcendent than the first black president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. He was able to soar above hatred for his white jailers, the political tug of the African National Congress, the pull of his racial and tribal group, and the rejection by the Afrikaners to build a South Africa for all South Africans. Now in his 90s, he is perhaps the world's greatest living leader.

      Why for one... to search for such leaders ? How it helps? Why one need to take such help? Is there need for taking such help? If there are no Level so and so leaders... then what means ? One need not become leaders of so and so leaders.. ? Any attempt for one trying to search for Level,,,,, leaders is irrelevant when somebody set to develop one self level six leader. Especially national level students need not look for such examples.. dr mandi

    Asking the question, whom do you serve? is a powerful vector on which to build a useful typology of leadership. Visiting professor Modesto Maidique offers a six-level Purpose-Driven Model of Leadership ranging from Sociopath to Transcendent. Key concepts include: The most telling question to ask a leader is, whom do you serve? Yourself? Your group? Society? The answer to this question often reveals more about leaders than knowing their personality traits, level of achievement, or whether they were "transformational" or "transactional" leaders. The six levels of leadership are Sociopath, Opportunist, Chameleon, Achiever, Builder, and Transcendent.
