Last week, Google announced that they had acquired Titan Aerospace, a company that manufactures high-altitude, long endurance solar-powered UAVs. Google intends to incorporate these aircraft as part of, "Project Loon," where they intend to use unmanned aircraft (and balloons) to beam internet signals to parts of the world where internet has been largely unavailable. That, and the photos gathered from these aircraft will have FAR greater resolution that satellite imagery when used to make maps.
