This interactive session modeled how the group does their tech PD sessions for their school district. They emphasize modeling and self-discovery. In this example they selected 5 tools for teachers to "research". We broke up into groups & picked one. We had 15 min to answer the following questions: Is it a useful tool, how does it work, how can you use it in the classroom, what are some tips for others?

PLUS Tech is a technology training program created by the CPS Department of Libraries to deliver online professional development to librarians and teachers. Training modules target specific technologies that support librarians to provide personalized instruction and learning opportunities for their students. Participants study training modules, complete quizzes, and earn points and badges as part of the PLUS Tech game. Accomplishments are noted on the site & prizes are awarded.

BSN offers fully customizable online courses, including a Human Anatomy & Physiology course. They have an extensive course catalog as well as numerous PD courses for instructors. They even have a set of Blackboard technical training courses for teacher. Hmmmm, where was this 2 years ago!

Campus North is a provider of online courses that are purchased & taught by a school's own faculty. They do not provide a facilitated option. The course catalog provides an interesting selection of course offerings that lend themselves nicely to the specialized structure of academies. Courses include: Paleontology, Art Appreciation, Health & Medicine, Marine Biology, Media Studies, Personal Fitness, Psychology, Renewable Energy, Sociology , Space Exploration, Theater Studies This is their first year in operation and thus have a limited catalog. At this time they don't provide PD for teachers on the use of their curriculum but, they support teachers with resources for each offering.
