A 2007 report by the International Centre for Research on Women (ICRW) ranked Yemen 13 out of 20 worst countries in terms of the prevalence of child marriage. The report said 48.4 percent of women were married before 18.

A court in Saudi Arabia has granted an 8-year-old girl a divorce from her 47-year-old husband, after twice denying the divorce request previously.

تعود تفاصيل القضية -التي بدأت منذ نحو خمسة أشهر- عندما علمت والدة الطفلة مصادفة قيام زوجها بتزويج ابنتها ذات السنوات الثماني لرجل في العقد الخامس من العمر دون علم الطفلة، وذلك كجزء من قضاء دين على والدها مقابل مهر يقدر بـ30 ألف ريال يخصم من قيمة المبلغ المستحق على والد الطفلة.
