It's been said that for each and every culture, there is a counter-culture. Every action has an and opposite reaction, right? The latter result against very stylized and uber-modern Web 2.0 design (for unfortunate lack of a better phrase) is quick. And in large part, in my opinion, unjustly supported.

I have got designers telling me that when they see another slope, another sweet solution image.. Yet another 24px Trebuchet header for god's sake, they're organizing in the towel.

Maybe you are sick of it too. But ask yourself: does it work?

A good designer has to work above trends, above what is modern. A good artist mustn't integrate or contemplate style for style's sake. An excellent designer must.. Style good. That is, the user must be motivated by him to go, to do, to click "Next", to join or join, to sell the item.

Good style isn't in what is pretty or popular or the next big thing. It's also maybe not about looking hip to your design colleagues because you are actually bucking the trend du jour. Doing so only means you wind up creating for your pattern demain.

Dan Hunt (of webdesignfromscratch.com) sets out the key touchstones of Web 2.0 design:

Basic layout3D results, used sparinglySoft, simple back ground coloursStrong shade, used sparinglyCute celebrities, used sparinglyPlenty of whitespaceNice major text

It generally does not get much easier than that. What is the purpose? These components work. Browse here at nashville web design to read where to study this hypothesis. Don't buck a trend because you want to differ. Be above-the trends and counter-trends. Recognize what works. And utilize it the simplest way you are able to.

In Ben's terms, "I am glad to state that web design in 2006 surpasses ever.. more web-site designers know more about how to design than ever before."
