  • Wikispaces has a helpful administrative function
  • allows you to schedule due dates for Wikispaces projects and specify a lock time for your Wikispaces Events
  • Google Apps for Education
  • Google Forms
  • simply create a Google Form where students submit links to their published reviews
  • Designate sections for genres and/or grade levels to make it easy for you to sort the submitted reviews
  • Google Spreadsheet
  • you can then share with your teacher colleagues and students
  • Create QR codes, then print and insert them into the dust jackets of the books in your library.

I love the idea of creating QR codes for book reviews. If all of the reviews for that particular book are in one space, then it is easy for students to see what all students who have reviewed the book thought about it. Definitely going to keep this in mind for the future.
  • scan the QR code with their mobile phones and access a review by one of their peers
  • Goo.gl will also generate a QR code for every link you shorten
  • Goo.gl keeps a record of the number of times a link has been opened

Another great idea for this would be to collaborate with the literature/language arts teacher to have students write reviews for the books they read in class. This will help jump start the review pages for the library.

This game is a huge hit with kids of all ages, this would be a great idea to incorporate technology instruction in an interesting manner for kids who love the game.

Wow! This is a grand idea! I know LOTS of children who would thrive at being able to design instead of just play Minecraft. They would truly be happy campers!
  • aught how to work mods: modifications that allow players to alter Minecraft, from making new blocks to creating new pieces
  • A professional coder in the community will be working with students during the first session using Eclipse
  • ...7 more annotations...
  • Students will use laptops already in the library and connect to a server set up just for the program
  • the ability to personalize a video game is something most children don’t feel equipped to undertake. And that’s something Forth hopes to change
  • We want to take them from consumption to creation
  • We want to emphasize problem solving and teamwork
  • Libraries across the country have latched onto the game, using it to attract students to the library
  • Forth has already fielded calls from parents interested in the program for their children

This is a huge win. Having parents call to sign their kids up for the program, amazing.
  • The idea is to create a turnkey program so all the documents are there, as well as curriculum and resources, so they can have what they need.
