"Welcome to the world of the iPad! I hope that you, like I have, will find this amazing device transforming in your approach to the utilization of technology for teaching and learning.  The syllabus for a distance learning class requires much more detail and information than a syllabus used in a traditional class on campus.

"Here is one of my private assumptions about education innovation that could use some public criticism: If [x] is going to change teaching practice at scale, then [x] needs to be easy, fun, and free for both the teacher and her students. [x] needs to be all three of those things at the same time. Realize that if you're a teacher and you're reading a blog post, you're automatically seeded in the top 10% of innovative educators. You'll try anything once. Let's also go with Jack Welch and assume that 10% of educators are hopelessly and/or willfully incompetent. Convince yourself, then, that 80% of teachers exist on a sliding scale of innovation and are basically up for grabs. Those who don't want to try [x] aren't necessarily bad educators. They may have made a rational calculation that [x] isn't easy enough, fun enough, or free enough to adopt. There are implications here, some obvious, some subtle: "

Today's school curriculum presents students with assignments that lack a real-world context and activities that lead to uninspired projects and end in a letter grade. Many students either learn to do just enough to get by or they lose interest and drop out. In this interconnected world, with ubiquitous access to powerful technology and access to a worldwide community, new models of teaching and learning are possible.

In this clip, educators describe problem-based learning as a way for students to use technology, work together in groups, and learn to use unique tools. For example, students in the clip use handheld gaming systems to play word games. Several educators explain the many benefits to approaching teaching in this manner, such as helping students use technology in a fun way that stimulates the brain and enhances the learning experience.

This Prezi is one of the best examples and thought provoking discussion starters I have seen regarding evaluating teaching and learning using Blooms Taxonomy.
