But are green cars actually 'green'?

Firstly, lets get pure electric vehicles. Regrettably these electric vehicles are anything but beneficial to the environment. The electricity they run using is manufactured in power stations, where only 30-40% of the energy is changed into electricity. Moving this energy along electrical cables then leads to another 30 % being lost to heat energy. So by the time this energy reaches an electrical car an enormous amount of the vitality was already lost. Advantageous to reducing inner city pollution but successful it certainly isnt.

Recently hybrid cars have now been preferred, cars which contain both an electric motor and a gas engine. The battery for the motor is operated by the power generated from braking. In regards to being green many more environmental benefits are offered by these cars in theory.

Used this isnt always the case. Client magazine Which? tested four hybrid vehicles by driving them through-out London. The results were disappointing, as stated by George Marshall-Thornhill, senior analyst for Which?, Several of those should have performed much better. And that is all without mentioning how exactly to get rid of troublesome battery power.

Then theres the cost of hybrid vehicles. The Toyota Prius is typically the most popular hybrid car and are available for around 17,000. But, with fuel economy promises in question and 550-watt of people thinking that green cars are too expensive, there is still some way to go before green cars arrive on a sizable scale.

The important points are that green cars use more power to create, are tougher to eliminate, their fuel economy states have already been doubted, and they are simply too expensive. Age the green car hasn't arrived yet.
