WriteChain is an iPhone writer's app created by the author of the blog, How Not to Write. It features a wordcount function which adds up your wordcount on writing projects day by day, notifying you when you forget to write (or break the chain). Available through the ITunes application store, with instructions on this blog.

Article Helper is a lovely little database / text editor program which runs without installing. Your articles created withint Article Helper are saved as text files, stored in the same directory as the exe. The front page shows a list of these articles, with wordcount statistics. These can be edited inside the article helper application, with a panel on each article for status, niche, keyword phrases, an author resource box, and the body of the article. The application also has a scheduler, which pops up a reminder at certain periods during your writing work; and a summary report for your full list of articles.

With Write or Die! (from Dr Wicked's Writing Labs), you get tangible consequences with procrastination. Insert a wordcount, and time period, and start to write - in the online java applet. If you pause, within 20 seconds you will find your surrounding screen turning red, then the noises start.
