Please post the pitch for your second major assignment (profile, plus video) by the time we meet on Friday. The pitch should tell me who you will be profiling and why you think this person makes an interesting story. It should also tell me what the video will be about, how it will complement, round/out the story. If your pitch isn't posted by 11 a.m. Friday, I'm afraid it's a zero for the assignment. You can always change course, but we need to get something going for consideration sooner rather than later.

Please read 11 in your textbook by Friday: Gathering and Editing Images, Audio and Video.

Josh Hinkle from KXAN will be talking with us tomorrow about shooting images - the basics. This textbook reading will help reinforce what he has to say and prepare you for Friday.

Finally, if you haven't done so yet, please check out a video camera on the second floor of the Munday Library. Shoot some video before coming to class Friday. Don't forget your camera and please be on time so we can get right down to business.

We will be doing Exercise 11.2 on page 273 Friday in class.

    See you tomorrow, JH

Here they are. Please correct anything I've got wrong here. I'll post the final handles when I get confirmation that I've got them all right. Include with that email a vote for either #heathshotties2013 or #seujour for the class hashtag. I am fine with either one. Some of you looked a little uncertain the other day when we voted, so I want to give you one more chance to choose between our feisty one and a more staid one. The majority will win:
    Reagan - @Reaganomics7
    Colin - @LLCoolin
    Shelby - @JOUR 3322
    Kelsey- @kelseyyyann21
    Brooke - @brookenblanton

By Friday: Please remember to play around with Storify and be sure you're up and running with your Twitter and Diigo accounts.

By Wednesday 9/4: Read the two articles on the Course Schedule document posted on the class website. One is about the use of Twitter during the Boston Marathon bombing and the other, from the NYTimes Magazine is called: "Should Reddit be Blamed for the Spreading of a Smear?" We'll discuss the issues both these articles raise in class.

Remember: First open HV meeting is Wednesday, 9/4 at 5 p.m. in the Andre Hall lobby. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us.
