Summer Workouts For Perimeter Players - Basketball Coaching - 0 views

  • If you’re serious about coaching basketball, you need to develop an off-season workout for your players.
  • t is vital to your team’s success that your players come into the season fit.  Before the AAU or summer leagues start, you should meet with your players individually and evaluate their play during the past season. At this time you should also give your player a written list of things they need to concentrate on during their off-season workouts.

Thanksgiving - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

  • hanksgiving Day is a harvest festival. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. It is a holiday celebrated primarily in Canada and the United States. While perhaps religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday. The date and location of the first Thanksgiving celebration is a topic of modest contention. Though the earliest attested Thanksgiving celebration was on September 8, 1565 in what is now Saint Augustine, Florida[1][2], the traditional "first Thanksgiving" is venerated as having occurred at the site of Plymouth Plantation, in 1621. Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Thanksgiving dinner is held on this day, usually as a gathering of family members and friends.
  • Most people celebrate by gathering at home with family or friends for a holiday feast. Though the holiday's origins can be traced to harvest festivals which have been celebrated in many cultures since ancient times, the American holiday has religious undertones related to the deliverance of the English settlers by Native Americans after the brutal winter at Plymouth, Massachusetts. The period from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Day is often called the holiday season.

Japanese history: Postwar - 0 views

  • After World War II had ended, Japan was devastated. All the large cities (with the exception of Kyoto), the industries and the transportation networks were severely damaged. A severe shortage of food continued for several years.
  • The whole operation was mainly carried out by the United States.
  • Over 500 military officers committed suicide right after Japan surrendered, and many hundreds more were executed for committing war crimes.

  • A new constitution went into effect in 1947: The emperor lost all political and military power, and was solely made the symbol of the state.
  • Critics started to grow when the United States acted increasingly according to her self interests in the Cold War, reintroduced the persecution of communists, stationed more troops in Japan, and wanted Japan to establish an own self defence force despite the anti-war article in the constitution.
  • With the peace treaty that went into effect in 1952, the occupation ended. Japan's Self Defence Force was established in 1954, accompanied by large public demonstrations. Great public unrest was also caused by the renewal of the US-Japan Security Treaty of 1960.
  • After the Korean War, and accelerated by it, the recovery of Japan's economy flourished.
  • Japan's relations to the Soviet Union were normalized in 1956, the ones to China in 1972.

List of breakdance moves - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

  • The Top Rock is a combination of steps done while standing up. This is the entry dance that Bboys and Bgirls use to start their set. These steps are done before you do a power set or before you go down to the floor. This is the breaker's chance to show how well he or she can rock the beat and/or make gestures to intimidate their opponent
  • The foundational footwork sequence. Although many variations exist that either add or subtract steps in the sequence, the 6-step is the most basic form of downrock.
  • A Power Move is any type of move in Bboying which requires spinning and/or rotating in a way that can be done so in multiple rounds. All Power Moves (or series of a type of Power Move) can be connected in combos to form a "Power Combo". Breakers that use mostly Power combos in there sets are commonly known as "Power Heads". Example: Flare-Air Flare-Elbow Air Flare-Air Flare-1990...etc Or-Air Flare 1.5-Babymill-Windmill-Swipe-Windmill-Halo-Headspin...etc The possible number of combinations are endless and only limited by stamina, strength and imagination. In 2002 The Guinness Book of World Records began tracking number of power move rotations for their world record standings. At that time Canadian Gregory Burbidge broke records for Air Flare, Headspins, and Elbow Airflares. American Lauren Jacob held the record for Chair Flares. American Laura Derrick held the record for Tappingmills. Nicole Jones (nationality unknown) held the record for Munch Airflares. In 2004 Guinness removed these titles from their records. At the time Gregory Burbidge was the only one who still held records from the original group.
