There are many keyword resources out there. For one more way of interpreting this, please consider peeping at: keyword research services article. I like to work with Overtures because its free and easy. Keep in mind the numbers from Overture are usually filled often a l..

Hows that number coming along? You wll recall in the first element of this series I included getting a list together of ideas on your site or blog market. Hopefully you've a sizeable list of general categories. Another steps include narrowing the keywords and then performing some supply and demand study.

There are several keyword resources out there. I prefer to use Overtures since its free and easy. Bear in mind that the figures from Overture usually are inflated sometimes only a little sometimes a lot. They fudge the figures by counting like requests fly and flies or affiliate and affiliates get counted since the same query. Remember they make more money persuading their prospective advertisers that a search phrase is popular.

Therefore plug in one of the common search terms from your list. Im going to use dogs. We discovered back link building by browsing Google Books. Listed below are the results:

    Searches done in February 2006

    Depend Search Period

    1104234 dog

    225786 dog

    183180 dog instruction principles

    152056 dog show

    139072 dog breeders

    98321 dog name

    97021 dog instruction

    91172 dog picture

    88480 dog for sale

    62657 dog brushing

    56907 dog gift

I edited several like snoop dog out for expediency. I like dog training [basics] and dog breeds. Seems like individuals are trying to find both quite a bit. Now that we have the need, lets go over to Google and examine the supply.

Enter the actual search phrase, putting quotes around it therefore Google looks for just what we want. In the event that you put in puppy breeds, Google returns 5,59o,000 results. Look in top of the right-hand corner with this number.

Have you ever heard of Sumantra Roy? Most likely not. Hes a man who specializes in particular keyword research and Search Engine Optimization. He has devised a formula termed the Keyword Effectiveness Index or KEI to measure the potential of the keyword. I use a simpler version of it. Here it is:

    KEI = Demand / Supply

That's - Demand divided by Supply. The larger the KEI the better. Thus giving a simplified KEI to you that ranges from 1-10. People compare this for the Richter Scale, and therefore each successive number is significantly greater compared to the last number.

In our illustration above, the KEI for breed of dog would be.04, which isnt that great.

Dog Training Basics produces 45,600 results for Google. The KEI would be 4, which will be terrific. Hmmwait a minute. Our lesson is concluded by that. Bye. [Sound of running down the hallway and door slamming]. A bit nerd humor there.

Perform a few more and see what you think of. I did dog title and got a of.10, which is awful. I also tried dog present, which got me a KEI of.07.

I frequently get the best KEI key words and plug them back to the Overture software and test it again.

Furthermore, Wordtracker does this all for you. Try it for free and see how easy it is. Just bear in mind that they use different sources for both demand and supply than my example above, but that shouldnt make too much of a difference.

So now we must have a much smaller number that's some good prospects onto it.
