I finally stepped into the field by being internally moved into a People Advisor role at the beginning of the year.

We are a relatively small tech company in Canada, and I'm helping build a lot of our processes out right now.

I'm just curious if you use any automation tools/best practices to improve efficiency, and in what areas (onboarding, internal comms, offboarding, etc) you find it useful.

    HR Ops guys here-

There are a lot of great tools out there to automate processes. But, the biggest advice I would give is make sure all those tools "talk to each other". Ie if you are using ADP as your data source look at what they recommend. Other tools may work more "efficiently" but you will spend hours manually uploading/downloading reports between two systems, thus defeating the efficiency. Work with your payroll team they will more than likely have some input on what tools are good and not so good!

Other advice is to get really good at excel/google sheets. At one of the startups I worked at we used a google sheet that ran all HR information and it worked way better than the janky HRIS system I have now.

Hey! HR automation can take many forms, including chatbots and virtual assistants that help answer employee questions, online portals and platforms for employee self-service, automated email and messaging systems for communication, and AI-powered tools that help identify top candidates for job openings or evaluate employee performance.

By automating many routine HR tasks, organizations can improve efficiency, reduce errors, and free up HR professionals to focus on more strategic and value-added activities. Additionally, HR automation can help create a more seamless and positive employee experience, improving engagement and retention.

However, this is only a minimum of information. You should definitely read this article if you want to know more about HR automation.
I hope I have answered your question!
