Akka Project - 0 views

  •
Akka is the platform for the next generation event-driven, scalable and fault-tolerant architectures on the JVM We believe that writing correct concurrent, fault-tolerant and scalable applications is too hard. Most of the time it's because we are using the wrong tools and the wrong level of abstraction. Akka is here to change that. Using the Actor Model together with Software Transactional Memory we raise the abstraction level and provide a better platform to build correct concurrent and scalable applications. For fault-tolerance we adopt the "Let it crash" / "Embrace failure" model which have been used with great success in the telecom industry to build applications that self-heal, systems that never stop. Actors also provides the abstraction for transparent distribution and the basis for truly scalable and fault-tolerant applications. Akka is Open Source and available under the Apache 2 License.

Apache Aries Blueprint - dependency injection framework for OSGi, standard in OSGi Comp... - 0 views

  •
"Blueprint provides a dependency injection framework for OSGi and was standardized by the OSGi Alliance in OSGi Compendium R4.2. It is designed to deal with the dynamic nature of OSGi, where services can become available and unavailable at any time. The specification is also designed to work with plain old Java objects (POJOs) enabling simple components to be written and unit tested in a JSE environment without needing to be aware of how they are assembled. The Blueprint XML files that define and describe the assembly of various components are key to the Blueprint programming model. The specification describes how the components get instantiated and wired together to form a running module. The following documentation covers the 80:20 usage of Blueprint. For further details, please refer to the OSGi Compendium R4.2 specification."

"Scalaz is a library written in the Scala Programming Language. The intention of Scalaz is to include general functions that are not currently available in the core Scala API. The scalaz-core module depends only on the core Scala API and the core Java 2 Standard Edition API. Scalaz is released under a BSD open source licence making it compatible with the licence of the Scala project. Scalaz 6.0.1 was released in June 2011, targeting Scala 2.8.1 and 2.9.0.1. "

Apache Commons Daemon : Java Service - 0 views

"Jsvc is a set of libraries and applications for making Java applications run on UNIX more easily. Jsvc allows the application (e.g. Tomcat) to perform some privileged operations as root (e.g. bind to a port < 1024), and then switch identity to a non-privileged user. It can run on Win32 via the Cygwin emulation layer (see Cygwin for more information), however Win32 users may prefer to use procrun instead, which allows the application to run as a Windows Service. The sources are located in the src/native/unix subdirectory. In the future APR may be used to provide more portable platform support. "

Does Developing Portlets Make You a Better Developer? - 0 views

"I encourage (actually I dare you) to those who have never even touched a portal to take the JBoss Portlet Bridge for a test drive. It takes 1 download (GateIn bundled with JBoss) and one maven archetype to get started. You can choose from any combination of plain JSF, Richfaces, and Seam with mvn archetype:generate -DarchetypeCatalog=http://bit.ly/jbossportletbridge from the command line."

odata4j - An OData Toolkit for Java - Google Project Hosting - 0 views

  •
"The Open Data Protocol (OData) is a Web protocol for querying and updating data that provides a way to unlock this data and free it from silos that exist in applications today. OData does this by applying and building upon Web technologies such as HTTP, Atom Publishing Protocol (AtomPub) and JSON to provide access to information from a variety of applications, services, and stores. Project Info odata4j is a new open-source toolkit for building first-class OData producers and first-class OData consumers in Java. "

Node Types - 0 views

  •
Each node in a Jackrabbit workspace tree has a node type that defines the child nodes and properties it may (or must) have. Developers can use node types to define a custom content model for their application domain and have Jackrabbit enforce the constraints of that model at the repository level.

JCR Deep Dive | Jochen Toppe's Blog - 0 views

  •
The Java Content Repository (JCR) standard, which is based on the Java Specification Requests JSR170 (version 1.0) and JSR 283 (version 2.0), provides a Java-centric object-oriented storage API specifically targeted at content management scenarios. The JCR is not a content management system or a full-fledged content management system API, but rather a content repository API. A content repository provides a common API for all content-driven applications and CMS components, which require access to the content. It provides methods to read, write, and query content. The primary motivation of the JCR standard is to provide a standard and vendor-neutral programmatic interface for content repositories, allowing applications of multiple vendors to interact efficiently.

CND in a Nutshell | Jochen Toppe's Blog - 0 views

  •
The previous sections have extensively used the CND notation to illustrate the examples. Now that the most important concepts have been demonstrated, this section will give an in-depth overview of the CND. JSR 283 further defines an XML-based format for defining node type definitions, however, it has not been finalized yet at the time of writing. A CND file contains a series of namespace declarations, node type definitions, as well as comments which are denoted with a double slash (//).

"NTail is a log file 'tail' plugin for Eclipse that enables multiple, independent view instances to be open at the same time. Each view instance is, in turn, capable of hosting its own independent set of log tail viewers. Developed to enable watching host platform and plugin-in runtime platform log files at the same time. Useful to simultaneously watch the log files of a mutli-tier system. Also enables watching the same log file in separate views subject to different line filters."

Grep Console allows you to define a series of regular expressions which will be tested ... - 0 views

  •
"Developers usually have their programs write log and debug information to the standard output during coding and testing. This results in a lot of text being printed to Eclipse's console view, often more than can be easily surveyed. Since at any given time, only a small part of this information is of primary interest to the developer, a tool which highlights specific lines or words can significantly increase the readability of this output. Grep Console allows you to define a series of regular expressions which will be tested against the console output. Each expression matching a line will affect the style of either the entire line or parts of it. For example, error messages could be set to show up with a red background, or integer values showing the state of a certain variable could be rendered in bold font. "

Apache Tuscany - comprehensive infrastructure for SOA development & management based on... - 0 views

  •
"Apache Tuscany simplifies the task of developing SOA solutions by providing a comprehensive infrastructure for SOA development and management that is based on Service Component Architecture (SCA) standard. With SCA as it's foundation, Tuscany offers solution developers the following advantages: Provides a model for creating composite applications by defining the services in the fabric and their relationships with one another. The services can be implemented in any technology. Enables service developers to create reusable services that only contain business logic. Protocols are pushed out of business logic and are handled through pluggable bindings. This lowers development cost. Applications can easily adapt to infrastructure changes without recoding since protocols are handled via pluggable bindings and quality of services (transaction, security) are handled declaratively. Existing applications can work with new SCA compositions. This allows for incremental growth towards a more flexible architecture, outsourcing or providing services to others. In addition, Tuscany is integrated with various technologies and offers: a wide range of bindings (pluggable protocols) various component types including and not limited to Java, C++, BPEL, Spring and scripting an end to end service and data solution which includes support for Jaxb and SDO a lightweight runtime that works standalone or with other application servers a modular architecture that makes it easy to integrate with different technologies and to extend Integration with web20 technologies Apache Tuscany SCA is implemented in Java and C++ (referred to as Native)"
