How to take good pictures with different cameras - CNN.com - 0 views

  •
In photojournalism, good hardware can go a long way in helping you capture high-quality images, but someone who can properly use a cellphone camera is just as likely to take great photos as a novice equipped with a top-of-the-line DSLR. Knowing whether you're trying to capture spot news or shooting a photo essay is only half the battle: You also need to know how to use different cameras and which tool is appropriate for which situation.

Quality Homework - A Smart Idea - NYTimes.com - 0 views

    • Kate K

I think this is interesting because it is about homework which applies to all students. It has importance because it affects all students, it has meaning because people can relate to it , and it has proximity because it happened on the 10th of September.
  •
The studying that middle school and high school students do after the dismissal bell rings is either an unreasonable burden or a crucial activity that needs beefing up. Which is it? Do American students have too much homework or too little?

Parting Words from Senior Ishaan Desai - 0 views

I think this is news worthy because it has to do with many peoples mutual feeling. It has the human interest quality because it speaks about under privileged kids.
  • Central sucks. I can care less about my classes. There’s no point to school. It’s a waste of my time. Throughout my four years at Central, I have heard these words countless times, resonating with anger and defiance in the hallways. Despite the handful of students who go to class each day with a smile and desire to learn, the overwhelming response is clear: students find little value in the education they receive each day.

This article was newsworthy cause it was directly relating to high school students, and even more specifically, Central students. The qualities it contained were Importance and Impact, being that this relates so directly all high school kids. Human interest/emotion, because of the heart warming ending and the story about the little Honduran girl. Proximity, because it was written by a student who goes to Hunterdon Central. And finally meaning, because it let us know exactly how important school is, and w3hat kind of attitude we should show towards it.
  •
Although I thoroughly enjoyed everything I was doing, my education served no purpose other than meeting the standards of the 'system.' Soon enough, I yearned for a deeper meaning, a more useful application to what I was learning.

I think this story is newsworthy because it affects people who like to shop at Target. It contains special interest for people who like Missoni and timeliness because it was written yesterday.
  •
Target's Web site came crashing down on Tuesday as Missoni-loving fashion devotées invaded, scrambling to buy the high-end Italian designer's clothes for a song.

This was newsworthy because it is relative to my life. I'm stressing out about college as well.
  • Just because I’m not letting my life revolve around college does not mean I won’t worry about it. It just means that I’m going to do what I love. It means I’m not going to do something that I don’t actually really want to do because I want to get into college

The U.S. Supreme Court began its October 2011 term this morning, kicking off what could be a major season for the student media. The SPLC is tracking five cases that will be addressed by the Court this term - even if it is just to refuse to hear the appeal. Any one of these cases could dramatically reshape the First Amendment climate for students. Before we preview those cases, however, it's worth brushing up on some High Court 101.
