This site helps out a little bit with Child themes. I think that Professor Wolff did a pretty good job explaining them in class. But if anyone was confused at all I think that this site helps out with some examples. There were a few things that I double checked on this site as I was editing my theme.

This is a theme I'm considering for my site. My only concern is how the slider functions

"Faux Columns" by Dan Cederholm of SimpleBits discusses "[a] simple way to make CSS columns appear equal in length, regardless of the content that they contain." This technique requires a good amount of skill in positioning elements on a page and understanding the nuances of the background image. I'd like to try it, but don't anticipate using it any time in the near future, but because we're using Wordpress I'm not sure I'll be needing to any time soon.

These seem like pretty basic themes, so hopefully they can be manipulated easily. There are a couple fancy ones -- which obviously won't fly -- but in case you guys haven't found something that tickles your fancy, got another 300 for you to check out. :)

Just another Wordpress theme to think about using. This theme gives a bit more of a writing feel.

Introduction to child themes

This would be a great template if anyone will have visual art - photos, paintings, drawings - to blog about. Each block is a new post, I think. I won't be using it because my preference will be words... Unless you think I could pull off having a diagram in each photo :)

A nice looking portfolio site. So simple and straightforward! Carl Carbonell's site was selected by HOW magazine as one of October's top 10 sites for designers. He could have probably set up his store and blog all one one site with WordPress! (he didn't)

Adding sidebar functionality to your child theme. 

Article about Jakob Nielsen who wrote "Prioritizing Web Usability" and if you take a look at his site it's extremely minimal and I would argue doesn't follow the usability guidelines we discussed in class. \n\nThis is an article about why.

A complex theme that I'm hoping to manipulate and use for my site. It has three columns, and looks complex but outlining the box level elements shows it's fairly simple.

UX is user experience. It's interesting to think about in terms of usability - the visual experience is important to a successful website not just functional features like links and a pretty header

This site helps clarify some of the things we covered in class last week with the Box Model. Again, it's not something that we necessarily need to look at. But if you're looking for some quick reminders of what we covered in class. I think this site does a pretty decent job.

This was a very disappointing site for my theme--none of the documentation describes anything that has to do with coding!!

This is another theme from Themelab. I'm not interested in it for this class, but I think it has a nice layout
