A series of videos that explain how different technologies work. A bit like the 'In Plain English' videos. Videos available include hardware, Email, and networking. Best suited for students with limited IT knowledge with whom you need to cover the basics.

"Simple English Wikipedia is a version of the Wikipedia encyclopedia, written in Simple English. Articles in the Simple English Wikipedia use fewer words and easier grammar than the English Wikipedia. The Simple English Wikipedia is also for people with different needs, such as students, children, adults with learning difficulties and people who are trying to learn English. Other people use the Simple English Wikipedia because the simple language helps them understand unfamiliar topics or complex ideas." I've found this quite useful for myself and my students. Some of regular Wikipedia's articles are simply too complicated - Simple Wikipedia has fewer articles, but those it has are generally a lot clearer.

Videos and online courses covering Computer Science topics, many of which are very useful for Strand 3 of the new syllabus.

A site with resources and strategies for using technology in education. Contains a lot of resources related to digital citizenship, especially information literacy. More useful for teachers than students.

The New Scientist's technology section has a lot of useful information, and a lot of it very easy to understand too. A useful source for articles for discussion, the technology section also breaks down into smaller topics like Computer Crime, Robotics, and Weapons. Some of the "Instant Expert" guides in here are well worth using in class, and some of the articles may also be suitable for Paper 2. (subscription required for some articles)
