I don't know how I missed this website before. Yet another go-to site for free, helpful online resources to enhance classroom teaching. The website creator won the ISTE's Young Educator of the year award. That is not a surprise after checking out the site. Some future discoveries will probably be related to playing around on this site.
There are many advantages from being able to exchange ideas on a global level. However, sometimes it helps to meet face-to-face to work through ideas or problems. Honestly, human nature thrives on social interactions, and that can sometimes be lacking authenticity on social network sites.
This will give you a chance to search trending topics by #hashtag on Twitter without having to log in to an actual Twitter account. This could be beneficial in a classroom to remove some of the personal connection while still providing the students with live media. Current events are simply summarized and given personal perspective on Twitter, without the students seeing a random comment about what one of my friends is having for lunch.
