Often, we don't realize how powerful our actions are and how they can affect others. Everything we say or do has an impact on those around us.

Isabelita Rosueta Organization (#IROG) encouraged students to participate and promote the National Bullying Prevention Month last October - an awareness campaign spearheaded by TR Button Buddies and Rhemus Graphics to keep students of Sto. Tomas Elementary School safe from bullying. Spreading the word through button pins were distributed to the students to inspire everyone to help create a community without bullying.

Many thanks for the assistance and continued support from:

Sir Angelito D. Sinfuego, Principal; Ma'am Maribel B. Alib, Ma'am Florida O. Pantilon and Sir Rey Borlaza (Grade V Teachers); Ma'am Zenia S. Velasco and Sir Jake Concepcion (Grade VI Teachers)

And to Marjie Myrtle Marmito for the awesome button pin designs! Racquel Tuazon, Riselle Cha Tuazon Asuncion and Charmaine Rose Barredo Gallaron for the student engagement and conversation to educate, inspire and support!

Before you say or do something, think about how you might make others feel. Spread kindness, spread LOVE.

For 4 consecutive years, every 16th of September, IROG is consistently donating baby needs to the newly born at San Marcelino Hospital in Zambales in memory of the chairperson's late husband, Joel Castillo.

What does the cool gentle breeze of the Brrr-months bring to mind? Well, aside from the need to bring out one's thick blankets and sporty jackets, what else but thoughts of endless partying among relatives and friends (yes, we are referring to that Filipino penchant for year-long and, more so, year-end festivities) until and beyond the onset of the New Year. More specifically, we refer to the happiest blessing of receiving and giving gifts.

Be it as small as a keychain, or a Bluetooth speaker, or as generous as a karaoke machine (a car will do, too), the joy that gifts bring is both a product of an act of faith and love as well as a childhood-bred instinct that is almost as essential as breathing itself. And so, we need to give and to receive as often as we inhale and exhale in order to remain truly healthy.

No other group understands this principle as intimately as IROG does. IROG (Isabelita Rosueta Organization) once more looks forward to its Annual Gift-giving Activity this year, its members get busy setting the ground for another opportunity to bring joy and cheer to the families who need caring and attention.

In the past, IROG extended help to the mothers and their newborn babies in San Marcelino Hospital. Every 16th of September, infants received a bag of essential baby needs, such as diapers, feeding bottles and some baby dresses, along with baby mattress pads and pillows. The happiness felt by the nursing mothers was shared equally by IROG gift-givers as they saw the smiles and felt the warm gratitude of the recipients. When we selflessly and cheerfully give to a baby who is the best gift from Heaven to the world, for we were all once babies and new life-bearers, we actually give to ourselves. For only then can the Giver of Life find us worthy to have received precious life. For when giving ends, life ends as well.

Aside from giving gifts to mothers and their babies, IROG has also sponsored school gift-giving events at Sto. Tomas Elementary School, Subic, Zambales from the very start of its operations as a socially-oriented foundation. Giving is, in a way, the game and the winners are both the giver and the recipient. Hence, nobody loses in this game!

Spearheading this awaited annual event is the kindhearted and dynamic IROG chairperson, who along with her late husband, Joel, believes in the maxim that "no matter what life brings you, keep on moving forward and stay positive". IROG throbs and thrives because its corporate soul has both seen and experienced life at its best and worst phases and, in the process, nurtured a living common spirit that seeks to face life with resolve and dedication to make every moment count as a blessing to be shared and cherished by all. And that means one's family, friends, neighbors and others in the community. A family can only find meaning and security if it is truly connected to the community it finds itself in.

IROG continues to believe in many more good things to come for many people. Its small part in making people feel the good things in life will also usher in peace and multiply contentment in the blessings we all constantly receive from day-to-day.

The Secret to Happiness Is Helping Others - 4 views

Exercise6 tips to living a life with purpose and meaning

There is a Chinese saying that goes: "If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody." For centuries, the greatest thinkers have suggested the same thing: Happiness is found in helping others.

"For it is in giving that we receive - Saint Francis of Assisi

The sole meaning of life is to serve humanity - Leo Tolstoy

We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give - Winston Churchill

Making money is a happiness; making other people happy is a super happiness - Nobel Peace Prize recipient Muhammad Yunus

Giving back is as good for you as it is for those you are helping, because giving gives you purpose. When you have a purpose-driven life, you're a happier person - Goldie Hawn

And so we learn early: It is better to give than to receive. The venerable aphorism is drummed into our heads from our first slice of a shared birthday cake. But is there a deeper truth behind the truism?

The resounding answer is yes. Scientific research provides compelling data to support the anecdotal evidence that giving is a powerful pathway to personal growth and lasting happiness. Through fMRI technology, we now know that giving activates the same parts of the brain that are stimulated by food and sex. Experiments show evidence that altruism is hardwired in the brain-and it's pleasurable. Helping others may just be the secret to living a life that is not only happier but also healthier, wealthier, more productive, and meaningful.

But it's important to remember that giving doesn't always feel great. The opposite could very well be true: Giving can make us feel depleted and taken advantage of. Here are some tips to that will help you give not until it hurts, but until it feels great:

    1. Find your passion

Our passion should be the foundation for our giving. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving. It's only natural that we will care about this and not so much about that, and that's OK. It should not be simply a matter of choosing the right thing, but also a matter of choosing what is right for us.

    2. Give your time

The gift of time is often more valuable to the receiver and more satisfying for the giver than the gift of money. We don't all have the same amount of money, but we all do have time on our hands, and can give some of this time to help others-whether that means we devote our lifetimes to service, or just give a few hours each day or a few days a year.

    3. Give to organizations with transparent aims and results

According to Harvard scientist Michael Norton, "Giving to a cause that specifies what they're going to do with your money leads to more happiness than giving to an umbrella cause where you're not so sure where your money is going."

    4. Find ways to integrate your interests and skills with the needs of others

"Selfless giving, in the absence of self-preservation instincts, easily becomes overwhelming," says Adam Grant, author of Give & Take. It is important to be "otherish," which he defines as being willing to give more than you receive, but still keeping your own interests in sight.

    5. Be proactive, not reactive

We have all felt the dread that comes from being cajoled into giving, such as when friends ask us to donate to their fundraisers. In these cases, we are more likely to give to avoid humiliation rather than out of generosity and concern. This type of giving doesn't lead to a warm glow feeling; more likely it will lead to resentment. Instead we should set aside time, think about our options, and find the best charity for our values.

    6. Don't be guilt-tripped into giving

I don't want to discourage people from giving to good causes just because that doesn't always cheer us up. If we gave only to get something back each time we gave, what a dreadful, opportunistic world this would be! Yet if we are feeling guilt-tripped into giving, chances are we will not be very committed over time to the cause.

The key is to find the approach that fits us. When we do, then the more we give, the more we stand to gain purpose, meaning and happiness-all of the things that we look for in life but are so hard to find.

When we say "Christmas Season", the first thing that you'll think about as a child or an adult aside that it is the birthday of Jesus are gifts, right? It is that time of the year when gifts are the symbol of people's love and care to other individuals around them. Here on the Philippines, it is the norm to see some children and adults doing caroling in front of different houses with the hope of getting a few gifts from the homeowners, but at IROG foundation, the group was doing the exact opposite because they do caroling not to get gifts, but to give gifts to different families especially for the people in need.

The IROG foundation along with different volunteers, employees, and other generous and compassionate individuals and groups have been doing this "Reverse Carolling" for many years now and each time they do it, it is certain that it will be a very memorable experience for each person involved. Their dedication can even travel extra miles just to deliver their gifts to people similar to what happened on December 19, 2017, but this time, something special happened because one of the famous news programs of GMA News TV, the "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho", took interest in the organization's compassionate activity and decided to cover their caroling story and share it to millions of Filipinos watching their newscast.

Even though the group heard the Christmas songs a lot of times they still decided to practice the songs to deliver them properly during the morning of December 19, then afternoon came, and the group was ready to go, carrying their gifts and their feelings of excitement and joy. They might not

be composed of great singers, but they still sing the Christmas carols from the bottom of their hearts with full of smiles, and to their delight, the families truly appreciate them. And as each set of songs were finished, the group was truly excited each time they're about to give the gifts to different persons and families at Tibag, Zambales. This is also the group's way of telling them that whatever challenges life may bring, there are still people who are willing to provide a kind help and support.

This benevolent tradition started by the organization with the genuine objective of sharing love and care through gifts to different people and families will surely continue in the next Christmas seasons.

Life is so magical and beautiful indeed we should live it fully.

As a way of sharing and helping others, for the past 3 consecutive years Isabelita Rosueta Organization (IROG) make it to a point of extending help to the newborn babies in San Marcelino Hospital. The smile from those loving parents is undeniably the proof of how happy they are in having their bundle of joy.

Last September 16, 2017, 20 newborn babies received a bag of happiness: packed with essential baby needs; diaper, feeding bottles and some baby dresses and baby mattress pad with pillows. Their parents can't express how thankful they are to receive such gift. It could be a small or simple thing for others but as we say "No matter how big or small a thing could be, what matters most is the happiness that it brings."

IROG is always looking to the positive side that those newborn babies could make a difference in the future. Let them feel that we are always ready to guide them in facing what the world would give.

    The promise of young smiles

"Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future." - John F. Kennedy

It's known to many that this quote inspired a lot of people and organizations around the world. It's like a message that highlights the great importance of children as they are the most precious treasures a community can have. They are the promise and guarantee of the future; so they should be taken care of all the time.

Members of IROG Foundation, along with LGO employees, used this quote as our inspiration in giving excellent service to adorable little children during our recent activity called "Soup Kitchen Activity" at Sta. Rita Elementary School on September 1, 2016.

September 1 seems to be an ordinary day for all Grade 1 students of the school; but for the members of LGO and IROG, it was truly a special day because everyone wants to share their purpose of giving to a lot of charming, little students that day.

The staff of IROG Foundation wholeheartedly prepared the food that we were going to deliver to all Grade 1 students of the said school. But before I elucidate the topic regarding the food, I would like to share how we were all excited before we even departed from our office.

While we were preparing to leave, we were already imagining the sweet responses we will receive from the children and it was enough reason for us to become more motivated. Even though it was hot outside and we needed to travel for a few minutes before we could even get there, all of us had enough strength to work hard for them because we were eager to perform this beneficial activity.

At exactly 1PM, we left the LGO compound to begin our voyage to the school. All of us rode a jeepney to get there and during our trip, I could hear some of my colleagues' excited conversations and their words were all filled with enthusiasm.

While we were on our way to the school, I couldn't help myself but imagine the endless gratitude we will receive from those children. The thought of it made me more effervescent about our activity. A few minutes had passed since we left our office; and we finally arrived at our destination.

Sta. Rita Elementary School has a tranquil surrounding and the moment we entered the place, I could feel the anticipation rushing through my veins. Watching the parents patiently waiting for their children inside the campus made me miss the old days.

As we looked around, you would notice the simplicity of the school and appreciate its charm. It was only a moment but it felt like I had been visiting the school for a number of times already because I felt comfortable being inside the school grounds. But it was then that my colleague led me to where the staff of IROG Foundation was. Everything was set and they were only waiting for us to arrive.

We rushed to the place and readied ourselves for our activity. And since it was a soup kitchen party, I already expected to see some delicious soup and to my surprise, there were also a lot of tasty bread. But before we even began, we didn't forget to offer a prayer to God and express our gratitude towards all the blessings we received and asked His guidance to make this activity successful.

After the prayer, everyone was now focused on serving the children. Our first destination was the farthest room of the left building. You can't help but giggle once you saw the surprised expression from the students because they were all very cute with their shocked faces.

Each class gave us a warm welcome and you would have seen in their eyes that they were really happy and some of them couldn't wait to taste the foods that IROG especially prepared for them. Some of the children were doing little cheers for us and kept on pointing at their location, telling us to go faster to them.

The children were all charming and lovely, you will never have gotten tired looking at them being so joyful and thankful about their soup and bread. After we distributed their food, some of them already ate their bread, and it was cute how they said "It's so tasty!" after just one bite. But their teachers never forgot to remind them that they needed to thank God first and offer a prayer before eating.

Sta. Rita Elementary School has 6 classrooms for Grade 1 students, and even though some rooms were quite far from each other, LGO and IROG members didn't mind it. I could see some of my colleagues sweating hard from carrying the foods; but they still managed to smile and continued to pass happiness to the children.

We were really touched seeing their bright expressions and their mellifluous way of saying "Thank you po" each time we gave them their food. With this activity, LGO and IROG Foundation aim to instill the value of service to those young souls.

Before we left each classroom, we were encouraging them to always study hard and their responses were bright young smiles with a strong dedication and an honest "Opo" (Yes, we will). I personally translate those smiles as promises that they will do well in their studies and will build their future with optimistic minds. Because of those smiles, I'm confident that our activity truly provides good service to them.

Being a part of this kind of activity makes me so thankful to our company; because aside from giving service to others, our visits at school and charities also teach us life lessons. "Soup Kitchen Activity" taught me how vulnerable children could be, and I realized that each of them really needs proper guidance. I'm suddenly glad schools exist. I'm hoping that this event showed them how much adults really care for their well-being.

I also had the chance to see cute students while studying, a sight I rarely see every day; and seeing those students focused during their recitation or simply copying notes from the blackboard was indeed a delightful sight to see. And because we had more foods left, we also delivered them to some Grade 3 students and called some of the parents waiting outside to have some soup and bread.

I understand that each of us has our own answer to what is the purpose of giving; and I'm glad that I became a member of a company that invariably provides the meaning of giving through activities like this. However, LGO would not be a company like this without Sir Joel Castillo, the founder of LGO and now one of God's angels, who's known as a kind of person who doesn't think twice about giving help to other people, especially to those who are in need.

The first time I became an employee of LGO and saw how Sir Joel, together with all the members of the company, did things, I felt overjoyed because it is not only about the growth of the company that was in the mind of our boss but also the welfare of other people and how to share his blessings with them.

Everything about LGO and IROG is an eye-opener for me at first, such as how everyone treats each other as a family and how everyone participated in sharing their blessings and offering their help to other people. And it seems that our boss' own definition of giving has been passed on to everyone, especially to me. LGO and IROG's deeds taught me that genuine happiness doesn't come from what we get but from what we give.
