Maj, Gen Qassim Atta, said that all towns between Baghdad and Samara, to the south are under the control of Iraqi security forces. Comprising mostly Sunni Muslims, ISIS is an al Qaeda splinter group that wants to establish a caliphate, or Islamic state, that would stretch from Iraq into northern Syria. The group has had substantial success in Syria battling Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's security forces.

The US Joint chiefs of Staff briefed to the Congress that the Iraqi government has asked to the United States that the Iraqi government needed to use the US air power in the conflict against the ISIS militants. The ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) is a branch of Al Qaeda, in which most of the militants are Sunni Muslims. Recently news was released by a US based magazine. The US has planned to divide Iraq into three states. The complete news would be released on 30th June 25, 2014 which is as large to be covering 8 pages. These pages state that Iraq would be divided into three states; one in the North of Kurdistan, the second along with the border of Syria while Vlheiah takes the third states place.
