In November, I visited the company that created it, Moonbot Studios, and saw what they were working on as a follow-up: a story-app called "The Numberlys," about a group of cute misfits who invent the alphabet in a gray, stern world inhabited only by numbers. There are a number of apps that are available that let you record your voice in order to convert it to text. I find this helpful when I need to transcribe longer pieces or even if I need to transcribe multiple entries. This technology is not yet perfect but it has improved considerably since these apps first came on the market. The first time I tried these app I got about 30% of the words correct, that figure is now more like 85% and with some effort on your part can be as high as 95%. Even with the minor inconsistencies it is still a quicker way for me to do larger pieces of text. I find these good when I want to just get the text down for a piece that I will spend some time formatting later. These are great for students as well, especially those kids who display great verbal intelligence but struggle with the written word.

Some good advice from Kim Komando re recording video on the iPhone. Sure hope an app is developed soon! I'm not willing to jailbreak my phone yet.

The iPhone does not include a tool for recording video. The problem isn't that the iPhone isn't capable of recording video. It is. However, it does not include an application that will do it. Nor is there one in the App store. a number of developers are working on video recorders. In fact, you can download a video recording app online. Several are available. I strongly recommend that you avoid these apps, though. Why? The fact that they're not in Apple's App Store is a big clue. They're not approved by Apple. In order to install one, you must jailbreak your iPhone. Jailbreaking an iPhone replaces its firmware. The number of apps for the iPhone/iPod Touch is nearing the 30,000 mark but hardly any application takes advantage of the network effects ...

With the popularity of games like Guitar Hero, it makes sense that there are a number of music-based iPhone games. Here are 10 for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

One of our sources in Asia say that Apple has placed an order for a massive number of camera modules of the type that they include in the iPhone. These are inexpensive cameras, in the $10 range. And the size of the order, our source says, means they can only be used for one thing - the iPods. Update: Macrumors features two images of cases that are supposed to be designed for the upcoming iPod Touch and iPod Nano, and suggest that the next generation of said devices will indeed include a camera.

What an exciting possibility! Looking forward to hearing more about this.

"Opera this morning announced the milestone, and added that Opera Mini is currently the number one iPhone app in the 22 featured Apple App Stores on their site, as of 8 AM CET on Thursday. " Released on April 15, 2010.

A wonderful browser alternative (free download) for iPhone. According to Apple's download count, Opera Mini has to date been added to 1,023,380 Apple devices.For your reference: the widely anticipated Skype iPhone app was downloaded 1 million times on the first two days of availability in the App Store.

Apple released their third quarter earnings today and needless to say, especially because of the recession, their numbers are incredible.
