"If you weren't one of the lucky attendees that made it for Apple's unveiling of iOS 6 and the new MacBooks at WWDC yesterday, don't worry. Apple just posted the full keynote video and you can watch all the action over on Apple's event site."
"Keynote for iPad, part of the iWork app suite, is a beautiful and powerful presentation tool, which is almost as good as the Mac desktop version. Users can create slideshows for projects, professional presentations, etc using the built-in templates, graphics, and animations."
A companion duo for student observations: ipad 2 and Keynote!
Are you looking for quick and easy way to make notes from student observations...if you like the look of the image that supports this blog, here are the steps!
Since its release the iPad has garnered arguments regarding whether it is primarily a device for consumption or creation. I have always believed that it is a device capable of creation. One simply needs to consider apps such as Avid Studio, DemiBooks Composer, Pages, Keynote, Minecraft Pocket Edition, Art Rage, SketchBook Pro, Comic Life and many others. These and many other apps all allow the user to tap into their talents and produce output of which they can be proud.
"Now Apple wants to help users achieve that limitless potential, with the free content-creation application iBooks Author. It aims to revolutionize modern textbooks by bringing interactivity to the learning experience. Not only can you add images to your pages, the reader can zoom in or out of them. You can insert Keynote slides, and embed movies that can be viewed inside a page or full screen. It's even possible to create short quizzes to test your readers' knowledge retention."
"Don't feel like paying for Keynote? Haiku lets you create presentations from your iPad wherever you are for free, hence its inclusion in toddy's Free App Friday. "
"Some of the best use I've seen of apps on the iPad is where teachers have engaged students using apps in conjunction with others. Filming activities, recording audio, adding the media to Keynote and annotating, demonstrating learning - that said, there are some great subject specific apps out there and in this post I'll cover some of the apps available for the Humanities subject Geography."
"This was the perfect way for teachers to share skills and ideas, have professional conversations and extend their professional learning. During the session, teachers were given the challenge to "Create a digital story where you become the characters of a fairytale." They completed this in small groups using Dropbox to share photos, Strip Designer to cut themselves out and place themselves onto backgrounds and finally Keynote to put the story together."
"One academic task the iPad lends itself towards is screencasting. After all, the iPad is portable, powerful, and has been used with other presentation mediums (Keynote, PowerPoint, and Prezi) since its release because users have the option to create, save, and share all in one compact and visually-robust device. However, it's been less obvious how to find screencasting software for the iPad."
"After Apple pushed its 25 billionth app this weekend there was nothing especially surprising about the list of all-time paid apps for the iPhone: games and novelty apps dominated it. But the list of all-time paid apps for the iPad was somewhat revealing. Pages, Apple's word processing app, was up there at number one. Numbers and Keynote were on the list as well, as well as Penultimate, QuickOffice Pro HD, Notability and Splashtop Remote Desktop. Almost 25 percent of the list was comprised of productivity apps."

"I stumbled across a great free app the other day. Haiku Deck bills itself as the alternative to Keynote and Powerpoint. After trying it out, it was very easy to use. I will be sure to use it the next time I present at a conference or professional development session. I immediately tried it out in a classroom of fourth graders who thought it was a slick app to make vocabulary cards with a little encouragement. "
"iRead is a group of teachers in Escondido Union School District dedicated to the idea that digital audio can be a powerful learning tool for all students. iRead will give you a chance to create meaningful, curriculum-centered audio projects with your students. Teachers are using digital audio tools (iPods, mics, Garageband, iTunes, Keynote, etc. and various accessories) to improve reading processes. Teachers meet on a monthly basis to exchange ideas and strategies. We started in 2006-07 by collecting data about fluency rates - this has been very promising.
