Truly effective note taking with the iPad | iGo With My iPad - 1 views

  •
"The long weekend didn't stop the normal Sunday morning business idea group from gathering this morning. During our gathering prior to our official first cup of coffee, the conversation turned to apps we are using for taking notes during the week. It is an ongoing discussion actually, we all have favorites for handwritten and typed notes. Generally, the two are not together in the same app."

Inspiro on the iPad, for those days a fresh idea escapes you | iGo With My iPad - 4 views

"A couple weeks ago, a coworker made a comment, "off to Inspiro to get started". We all chuckled as if we knew the place. We were later surprised to learn it's a iPad app. An app, like our old Palm Dilbert, that came up with catchy words groups to get the mind pulses started."

The Numberlys: With New iPad App, Ex-Pixar Designer Unleashes A Masterpiece | Co.Design - 2 views

  •
"I wrote about an iPad app last summer called "The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore", which was basically the acme of interactive storytelling on the iPad to date. In November, I visited the company that created it, Moonbot Studios, and saw what they were working on as a follow-up: a story-app called "The Numberlys," about a group of cute misfits who invent the alphabet in a gray, stern world inhabited only by numbers. Is the iPad the Correct Tool to Aid Learning in Education? | Innovative Scholar - 3 views

  •
Many educators have asked - "Is the iPad the correct tool to aid learning in education?" Having read several articles and well as witnessing first hand the implementation of iPad programs in several K12 educational establishments. I still don't have a definitive answer, but I suppose it depends on the goals of your educational establishment and the age group of learners and what they need to achieve by using the iPad.

iModel iPad Lessons with Number Line « techchef4u - 2 views

"In building the "iTools for the 1 iDevice Classroom" workshop, we felt there was a great need for modeling how various game-like apps can be utilized in multiple settings (e.g. cooperative pairs, small groups, stations, whole class). We also felt very strongly that it wasn't enough to just talk about classroom and curricular uses but to truly model and discuss how task cards and recording sheets would be used and what follow-up and extension activities would look like."

Digital Stories - RNPS iPad Trial - 4 views

  •
"This was the perfect way for teachers to share skills and ideas, have professional conversations and extend their professional learning. During the session, teachers were given the challenge to "Create a digital story where you become the characters of a fairytale." They completed this in small groups using Dropbox to share photos, Strip Designer to cut themselves out and place themselves onto backgrounds and finally Keynote to put the story together."

  •
"It's hardly news that the iPad is quickly becoming the toy of choice among infants and toddlers as the popularity of touchscreen apps targeting their age group continues to take off, prompting eager parents to hand over their devices to teach and entertain their kids with the latest technology. But what effect is this having on their brains?"

Five apps to entertain and educate your toddlers | TUAW - The Unofficial Apple Weblog - 11 views

  •
"Instead of continuing to buy cheap learning toys that break, my husband and I decided to use an iPad or an iPod touch filled with educational apps for our younger ones. In an earlier post, I listed five apps for the pre-school group. Now, I will list five of my favorite apps appropriate for toddlers (18 months to three-years-old). If you have any recommendations, please add them in the comments."

Swipe is a New iPad Magazine that Serves Diverse News and Reviews of all Thin... - 8 views

"Steel Media has worn many hats in the iOS world. They are an iOS ad publisher, publish the website pocketgamer.co.uk, and AppSpy video reviews. They also run The Free App Alliance, the iPhone Alliance and the iPhone and iPad Quality Indexes - meta-review sites dedicated to iOS apps. Who better then, to put out an all iOS magazine than this group? And, they have done just that with Swipe, an HTML 5 built, interactive magazine that will help you decide which apps and accessories you want or even need."

iPad 3rd Gen (wifi/cellular) - 4 views

  •
Like earlier iPad models, the iPad 3rd Generation (Wi-Fi/Cellular* - AT&T/A-GPS, A1430) -- which some may choose to refer to as the "iPad 3," even though Apple does not -- is a tablet computer for the web, e-mail, photos, video, music, gaming and more. Unlike earlier iPad models, however, the iPad 3rd Gen line is significantly more powerful and the focus has shifted more substantially from consuming content to creating it. All iPad 3rd Gen models most notably feature a "resolutionary" 9.7-inch 2048x1536 (264 ppi) multitouch glossy LED-backlit "retina" display, but also pack a dual-core 1 GHz Apple A5X "system on a chip" with quad core graphics, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB of flash memory storage, a rear-mounted 5 megapixel "iSight" camera capable of shooting stills and 1080p video and a front-mounted VGA-quality "FaceTime" camera, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and more. This specific iPad 3rd Gen model also supports 4G LTE connectivity (700, 2100 MHz), intended for use on AT&T's network in the US and Bell, Rogers and Telus in Canada, as well as A-GPS. Battery life is reportedly 10 hours "surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music" and 9 hours surfing the web using cellular data. Compared to the iPad 2 models, major differences for the iPad 3rd Gen line include a higher-resolution display, faster processor, better camera, and improved connectivity. *In response to criticism from consumer groups and government agencies, Apple formally changed the advertising of this model from "Wi-Fi + 4G" to "Wi-Fi + Cellular" starting around May 12, 2012.

EUSD iRead - 1 views

"iRead is a group of teachers in Escondido Union School District dedicated to the idea that digital audio can be a powerful learning tool for all students. iRead will give you a chance to create meaningful, curriculum-centered audio projects with your students. Teachers are using digital audio tools (iPods, mics, Garageband, iTunes, Keynote, etc. and various accessories) to improve reading processes. Teachers meet on a monthly basis to exchange ideas and strategies. We started in 2006-07 by collecting data about fluency rates - this has been very promising. "
