Learning and Teaching with iPads: Students construct knowledge with their own iBooks - 9 views

  •
"I was recently at Our Lady of the Angels Rouse Hill doing a workshop with them in creating iBooks using iBooks Author. The Principal Eva La Rocco and the teachers saw the main benefit for the software as a way of students demonstrating their own understanding and knowledge by creating an iBook that incorporated all their work. The focus being for the students to create content rather than it being pushed to them via a teacher created iBook textbook."

Create a Mobile App for your Class Today! - 6 views

  •
One of the big buzz words I hear at conferences is that everyone wants to create a "mobile app". There is something special about seeing the tiny little square on your mobile device and knowing that you created it. More importantly, mobile apps and resources increase students interaction with coursework and can help them ultimately learn the material better.

With Book Writer, students can create their own ebooks with photos, video, audio and links. Images and video can be annotated over in the book. Finished books can be shared using iTunes and E-mail. One of the best features of Book Writer is the huge number of applications that books can be shared through including: iBooks, Nook, Instashare, Bump, Evernote, Dropbox, and Send Anywhere. How to Create a Journal using iPhoto | Mac|Life - 5 views

  •
"Creating a journal in iPhoto is like crafting a scrapbook page that you can post live on the web for anyone to see, for free. Not only is it fun to design a journal, but it's a super-fast way to show off vacation pics, or to show distant relatives how much the kids have grown. In addition to creating a journal on an iPad, you can also make one on an iPhone in the same way. The feature is currently missing from the Mac version of iPhoto, however."

"I searched all summer for a fun Back-to-School activity. Well. . . unfortunately I couldn't find anything!! So, I have been racking my brain to come up with something exciting for Open House. I decided to incorporate the QR scans and create an Open House Scavenger Hunt to give the parents and kids the information needed to begin the new school year.
